New Certified Tobacco Educator (CTE) Credential Launched
Take on Tobacco!
The Canadian Network for Respiratory Care (CNRC) has developed the first national credential for healthcare professionals offering specialized services in tobacco prevention and cessation to their clients.
CTEs must be able to demonstrate nationally-validated competencies in foundational health education (e.g. health promotion, communication, educational interventions, program evaluation) and tobacco education (e.g. tobacco products, tobacco use disorder, assessment & interventions, tobacco programs and systems).
The new CTE program was developed with support from the Public Health Agency of Canada and in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health’s (CAMH) TEACH Project, Alberta Health Services and other key national stakeholders working in tobacco prevention and cessation.
